Adult servers assist the priest and the parish community be serving weekday Masses and funerals. Youth servers for the parish are children in 4th grade or older who serve God by assisting the priest and the parish community in their worship during weekend Mass. Training is provided.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
The liturgical ministry of distributing Holy Communion at Mass and to the sick and homebound is exercised by members of the parish who have attended a Diocesan Training Program, been appointed by the bishop and been formally commissioned as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. Parishioners are asked to serve in this liturgical role as the need arises.
Lectors fulfill a ministry of service to the parish by reading the Scriptures, leading the congregation in prayer, and making announcements during the weekend liturgies. Training is provided.
The Liturgy Committee has as its primary responsibility assisting with the spiritual development of the parish community by providing good liturgical experiences that foster a rich Catholic tradition.
The liturgy coordinators assist in setting up and cleaning up for the weekend Masses. In addition, they make sure there are enough servers, lectors and Eucharistic ministers.
Mary Queen of the Apostles Choir Ministry is divided between the 9:00AM & 11:00AM Masses, as well as funerals and holy days. (Several members sing at more than one Mass and are also active with the Funeral Choir.) The 4PM & 5:30PM, Masses are supported by cantor and organ. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7-9PM in the St. Therese Room. During the Christmas and Easter seasons, rehearsals intensify and lengthen as necessary.
The Sacristy Guild works to keep the sanctuary and sacristy clean and in order. They wash/press the linens on a regular basis.
Ushers are parishioners who serve the parish by greeting and assisting those attending Mass. In addition, this ministry includes taking up the collection and seeing to the need and safety of the congregation. There is always a need for men and women to serve in this capacity.
